Ben Kottke Photography understands that when choosing a location for your destination wedding is a difficult decision.  Maui is a popular destination for elopements and weddings.  Once you’ve decided on Maui, you’ll need to also book your wedding photographer. Over the years, Ben Kottke Photography has photographed Maui wedding all over the island, and can offer some insight for your wedding day.  Below are some of the most frequently asked questions.

Yes, you have full rights and access to download and save all the digital hi rez files

Of course- the packages listed are to demonstrate the range from 1 hr to all day. If there are other items you may interested in (family photos, couples/elopements, trash the dress etc) I’m more than happy to discuss and find a custom solution and reasonable pricing so you get everything you want.

Afternoon though sunset is typically best for light

Depends on the how much content there is to edit- a 1hr shoot can be ready within 24- 48 hours, a full day (bride groom getting ready through reception) will take 1 week. That being said I always edit and send a couple “good ones” ASAP (the same day) so you can post a couple to social media.

1 to 2. There is an additional charge obviously for a 2nd shooter. ($100 p/hr)

With Covid you can cancel up to 3 weeks prior BUT there is a $500 cancelation fee (I will refund all but $500 of your deposit)

I’m happy to order prints for you but to be honest since you’ll have ALL the same photos in hi rez there’s no reason you can’t order prints/make an album etc yourself.

  1. Editorial and reactive- this is where I sit back like a fly on the wall and capture those special moments that happen organically like the bride getting ready and interacting her friends and family.
  2. Fashion, interactive and take control: Whether it’s taking control to get a large number of guests together to take a group/family photo or guiding and posing the bride and groom after the wedding ceremony there are times where I have to take control to ensure we get the photos you want.

It’s all beautiful- you really can’t go wrong.

50% of the total fee and a signed contract I provide.

Most weddings are on the south side or west side where rain is fairly rare. If you’re getting married in Kapalua, North Shore or Hana rain is more common. I’m there to shoot your day rain or shine. If a total reschedule is needed or you want to get dressed up again to get certain photos my same hourly rate will apply so long as I’m available.
